Rio Ferdinand explains why Manchester United are frustrating him in transfer window

Rio Ferdinand says Chelsea's transfer business is ramping up his frustration with Manchester United this summer.

United have been so far unable to land their top target Jadon Sancho in the transfer window, with Borussia Dortmund holding out until their asking price for the England starlet is met.

It means United's only major signing this summer has been midfielder Donny van de Beek from Ajax.

That is in contrast to top-four rivals Chelsea, who have spent big on the likes of Timo Werner, Kai Havertz, Ben Chilwell and Hakim Ziyech, while also bringing in Thiago Silva and Malang Sarr on free transfers.

Ferdinand believes Chelsea's transfer window shows that deals can be completed with minimum fuss if clubs are willing to spend money.

Speaking on his Five YouTube channel, Ferdinand said: "The difference in the way Chelsea have done their business in this window compared to, say, my team, Manchester United.

"There's no noise, there's nothing going on - all you're seeing is bang, deals. A little bit of talk, bang, deal. Getting it done. That's what's frustrating to me and all the Man United fans.

" Sancho was talked about months ago and it's still not done, it's so frustrating.

"I'm not saying deals are easy to be done but Frank Lampard and Chelsea are showing that deals can be done if you put the money down and it's all done in the right way."
