Rio Ferdinand thinks Mason Greenwood is the Manchester United player that has been helped the most by Edinson Cavani's presence at the club.
Cavani has been a revelation for United since signing on a free transfer last summer and his form has been rewarded with a one-year extension to his stay in Manchester.
Greenwood has also been in sparkling form of late after a relatively slow start to the campaign.
Ferdinand believes Greenwood has improved since Cavani arrived at Old Trafford - with the England international scoring eight goals in his last 11 games in all competitions.
Speaking on BT Sport, the former United defender said: “I think he’s benefited more than anybody in this team with Cavani being here.
"That experience, that game-management, that winning mentality, that day-to-day intensity is rubbing off magnificently on this kid.
"I hear that he’s taken to him as well. He seems to be the kid that wants to be a sponge.
"I’ve seen little details throughout the season of him improving, and improving, and improving - and that’s the sign of an intelligent young man.”
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer recently said similar to Ferdinand and spoke about how much the 19-year-old has improved.
"I can say that Mason is learning all the time. He’s learning on the job, which is not easy," the United boss said.
"He’s learning on the job, which is not easy. It’s difficult and he’s had to bear a lot of responsibility and he’s popped up with so many important goals for us.
"Thursday night, he worked his socks off and then he’s going again and he’s tired, his body has not really filled out yet and he might not be ready for all of these games but he’s got something special."
