Rio Ferdinand explains how Bruno Fernandes Man Utd transfer will impact Paul Pogba

Rio Ferdinand thinks Bruno Fernandes' arrival at Manchester United will be the spark that ignites Paul Pogba in the second half of the season.

United completed a deal that could rise to £68.7million for Fernandes on Thursday, with the Portuguese international set to make his Old Trafford debut for his new club in Saturday's Premier League clash at home to Wolves.

Pogba still reportedly wants to leave the club, but having been forced to the sidelines through injury for the majority of this season he is set to make his United comeback in the next few weeks.

And Ferdinand thinks that the inclusion of a creative player like Fernandes plus Pogba's desire to prove his worth ahead of the Euro 2020 finals with France will mean that the former Juventus man will be a force to be reckoned with for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side over the coming months.

"I think it can only enhance someone like him. Someone who has got something to play for, by the way," Ferdinand told his YouTube channel.

"This summer is the Euros, and he's going to want to be a part of this French team that are probably the favourites.

"He will want to be playing there, I know the type of guy he is.

"He's a competitor, he's a winner, and we want to see that in a Man Utd shirt. He will have that appetite to perform for Man Utd, even if he's using that to get into the French team, Man Utd have to actually take that and take it on board.

"The Man Utd midfield of (Scott) McTominay, Pogba, Bruno Fernandes, that's got a nice ring to it."
