Ex-Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has rubbished claims that David Moyes told him to watch videos of Phil Jagielka.
Moyes took over from the legendary Sir Alex Ferguson at Old Trafford in 2013 but lasted just 10 months before being sacked following a series of disappointing performances from his side.
The Scotsman had worked with Jagielka for six years during his time at Everton , and there were rumours that he had advised Ferdinand to watch videos of the current Sheffield United centre-back to learn from the player, despite Ferdinand then being regarded as one of the best defenders in the world.
Responding to a question regarding the allegation during a Q&A on Twitter , however, Ferdinand shut down the story by simply replying: "No... don't be stupid! Myth!"
Ferdinand's centre-back partner Nemanja Vidic was also previously asked about the rumour in an interview with FourFourTwo , and refused to deny it was true.
"Players don't always like what managers say to them," he said. "That's normal- it even happened with Fergie. The sad thing for me wasn't any specific incident; it was that with David as manager and me as captain, we didn't do well."
During his wide-ranging Twitter Q&A, Ferdinand also gave his views on who he thinks United should sign during the January transfer window.
When asked who he believes his former team should recruit, he answered: "CM- Fabian Ruiz. CB- Kalidou Koulibaly. Wildcard: CM- Agustin Almendra."
United are thought to be keen to add to their squad over the winter period, with the team struggling for consistency.
They have won two, drawn one and lost two of their last five Premier League games, with their disappointing 2-0 defeat to Arsenal at the weekend their latest setback.
They face a tricky task to make it through to the fourth round of the FA Cup when they travel to Wolves on Saturday evening.
