Rio Ferdinand demands Man United target Jadon Sancho replicates club form at Euros

England legend Rio Ferdinand urged Manchester United target Jadon Sancho to replicate his club form during this summer's European Championships.

Sancho enjoyed a productive season with Borussia Dortmund, notching 16 goals and 14 assists across all competitions, an impressive tally considering he is still just 21-years-old.

Sancho's performances haven't gone unnoticed as Manchester United have begun talks with Dortmund to bring him to Old Trafford, but any deal to sign the England winger isn't imminent.

The Manchester Evening News understands a deal to sign Sancho isn't seen as being close, with Dortmund not publicly communicating an asking price for the winger.

Still, the skilful wideman will have to put speculation surrounding his future to the side as he prepares for this summer's European Championships with England and Ferdinand wants to see him light up the tournament.

"This is what I want to see in an England shirt: Jadon Sancho,” he told Vibe with Five.

“Jadon Sancho at Borussia Dortmund, when they need a moment, obviously (Erling) Haaland is on the end of things, but when they want someone to open the game up, they look at Sancho.

“I want to see that Sancho for England.

“Is it the team? Is it the shape of the team and the restrictions that’s holding him back from bringing out the same form?

“Or, is it just that he hasn’t become accustomed to international football yet?”

Sancho will compete with the likes of Marcus Rashford, Jack Grealish and Raheem Sterling for a spot on the starting lineup as England go into the competitions as one of the favourites.

The Three Lions will get their campaign underway on Sunday when they face Croatia at Wembley.
