Rio Ferdinand delivers honest verdict on Antonio Conte after Tottenham's win vs Crystal Palace

Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has admitted he has been impressed with Tottenham in recent weeks.

The Lillywhites have won four of their last five Premier League outings, with the only draw coming against Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool last week in what was an encouraging display from the north London outfit.

Spurs' most recent match came on Boxing Day as they recorded a 3-0 win over London rivals Crystal Palace thanks to goals from Harry Kane, Lucas Moura and Son Heung-Min.

Antonio Conte's side now find themselves fifth in the table, six points behind fourth-placed Arsenal, who have played three more games at this moment in time.

Now, former England international Ferdinand has hailed Conte, claiming that Tottenham's players have quickly bought into the Italian's tactics.

Speaking on BT Sport, Ferdinand said: "A lot of the players I’ve spoken to, it’s once you buy into it and you believe it and he’s the man who says 'listen follow me and we have a chance of winning', that’s how confident he is.

"But he’s very much into the detail and Cesc Fabregas said something really important about him.

"He said 'I played under Pep, he told you how the game would flow but also give you the freedom within that whereas this man tells you how it’ll go and you do as I say.'

"Simple as that. So he’s very rigid but he’s flying at the moment."

Spurs will travel to Saint Mary's on Tuesday afternoon to battle against Southampton, who defeated West Ham United 3-2 on Sunday.
