Rio Ferdinand celebrates extra special Father's Day after Kate's pregnancy news

Former professional footballer Rio Ferdinand has celebrated an extra special Father's Day today.

The former England player, 41, took to social media with a special tribute to his own father after recently getting the happy news that Rio would be expecting a child with his wife, Kate Ferdinand.

Taking to his Instagram account, Rio shared a moving message for his father, Julian Ferdinand.

Rio wrote: "Happy Father’s Day Dad you being there when I’ve needed you, especially most recently means so much to me.

"Love you dad️ #Suave #TheJudge ".

A black and white image of the pair walking side by side whilst looking very sharp in tailored suits accompanied the message.

A second showed each of them topless sat at a table together looking very cool with their sunglasses on.

The footballer himself is a father to three kids: Lorenz, 13, Tate, 11, and Tia, nine.

Rio was married to their mother Rebecca Ellison from 2009 until her tragic death from breast cancer in 2015.

He eventually found happiness with former The Only Way Is Essex star Kate Wright, who he married last year.

They revealed they are expecting a child on June 18 this year.

Kate posted on her Instagram account: "The crazy house is about to get a little bit crazier.. every time I watch this it makes me cry, the best reaction Baby Ferdy we are all so excited to meet you."

Rio went on to share an adorable reaction video as the pair told their other children their joyous news.

He captioned the video of the jubilant trio being told: "We got our wish, another Ferdinand en route!!

" @xkateferdinand I can’t wait to go through this whole pregnancy together and then bring our little human into this world️ The reaction though."

The football pundit has also been using recent days to speak up in support of the Black Lives Matter movement, which has received a new level of visibility in light of the death of George Floyd in the United States.

Rio shared on his Instagram earlier this week: "BLACK LIVES MATTER...

"Education Is Key To Change...this is a Moment...it needs to become a Movement & We Need to Continue These Discussions Collectively!

"The Football Community Has Started Talking & We Will Continue To Use Our Platforms to Help Educate.

"What the likes of @marcusrashford @sterling, @trentarnold66 & @jhenderson among others are doing at such a young age is powerful. #BlackLivesMatter #Education #Society."
