Rio Ferdinand calls out Ed Woodward over European Super League role: ‘Where are you Ed?’

Rio Ferdinand has called on Ed Woodward and the owners of the Premier League’s ‘Big Six’ to answer questions over the doomed European Super League.

Manchester United’s executive vice-chairman announced his resignation on Tuesday following the controversial plans on Sunday to form a breakaway competition against the Uefa Champions League.

And following fan protests, the Red Devils joined the other five English clubs in confirming their withdrawal from the ESL.

But that is not enough for Ferdinand, who has called on Woodward to front up and answer questions over his involvement.

Ferdinand said on Vibe With Five: “Throws out ideas that won’t affect anybody, but you see the uproar, the turnout, the fallout and I commend the Chelsea fans that went to Chelsea, going bananas, I’d love to see more people do that. These people need to understand.

“You can’t come out and give us a blanket coverup story and not tell us why. Ed Woodward resigned, I want to know why, where are you Ed? I know you personally.

“I want to know why, was you part of this? I could sit here and hammer Ed Woodward, I could sit here and hammer the Glazers. I could sit here and hammer all the owners of these football clubs.

“I don’t want to waste my time doing that, I just want answers. They should be put up on a pedestal, like they wanted to be, these six great clubs, well come out now and answer some questions, that’s what the fans deserve.”
