Rio Ferdinand believes Raheem Sterling won't be at Man City next season as he predicts next destination

Rio Ferdinand has predicted that this will be Raheem Sterling's last season with Manchester City.

After having an impressive Euros with England in the summer, Sterling’s Manchester City career has taken a turn for the worse.

When City brought in Jack Grealish for a club-record transfer fee this summer, one player was always going to miss out more than the previous season.

So far, that has been Sterling.

City now have a number of options in Riyad Mahrez, Gabriel Jesus, Ferran Torres, Phil Foden, and Grealish who are all seemingly above Sterling in the pecking order.

And with Sterling reportedly frustrated with his current role, rumours have suggested that he could be on his way out and Ferdinand expects him to leave the club.

On his podcast, he said: "I don't think Raheem will be at City next season. He won't want to sit on the bench - he's a winner.

"He's dedicated to his profession. I think his mind will think that he has to go.

"I think Real Madrid and Barcelona - they'll have money again.

"There will be no shortage of takers for Raheem Sterling. If he's not playing I think those two clubs will be interested.

"You can't doubt what Sterling has done - I think he's worth £100 million - in a heartbeat. But if he hasn't played all season he won't be going for that."

Last week, Guardiola had hinted that there is a role for Sterling moving forward.

He said: "He can play there [on the right] but at the start of the season Gabby played really good there. [As a striker], especially with guys with one-on-ones like Jack and Riyad who can attract more opponents and PSG players to create the spaces in the other areas and we need a guy who runs in behind right to left, Raheem is the best we have in the squad.

"It depends sometimes on the opponents and the way we want to attack and specific players we need, we sometimes need specific qualities for that.

"I’d say Raheem can play good on the right, 100 points, played incredibly good on the left with 98, and as a striker he always has the movements to create something for himself in front of the goal, like Ferran. Both are so good at making movements in behind, especially the way he trained in the last week, I could see I thought he could do a good performance and he has done."
