Rio Ferdinand asks Manchester United question after Liverpool 'embarrassment'

Liverpool sent shockwaves around the world of football on Sunday evening after handing Manchester United a humiliating 5-0 defeat in front of their own fans.

Jurgen Klopp’s side ran riot in the first half at Old Trafford and the game was over at half-time as Liverpool powered into a 4-0 lead.

Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand gave his views on what happened at Old Trafford as he highlighted the differences between his former side and the Reds.

The ex-United defender was left stunned, like everyone else connected with the club, on Sunday as Liverpool blew them apart in the opening half of the match.

Ferdinand gave his views on the match before going more in-depth with his analysis on his Vibe with Five podcast on YouTube.

The Reds opened up a seven-point gap between themselves and Manchester United with Ferdinand saying: “It was an embarrassment. I’ve been there, we got beat 6-1 at home by Manchester City.

“But we had an identity to fall back on in a couple of weeks. This is the problem for this team, they’re struggling to find an identity and who they are.”

“These are the questions, you watch the game and you think, “what are we?”

Much has been highlighted about Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s sides poor performance, but it needs to be said just how good Liverpool were to turn up to Old Trafford like it was any other stadium.

In Klopp’s time at Liverpool, the Reds have struggled to walk into the home of Manchester United and come out with a result that warrants the gulf in quality between the two sides.

Manchester United finished above Liverpool in an injury-hit campaign and the Reds asserted their dominance over the fiercest rivals on Sunday and it became clear very quickly that United are not on the same level as Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester City.
