Rio Ferdinand and Paul Scholes give verdict on Paul Pogba after latest Man Utd comments

Rio Ferdinand feels Paul Pogba will return to action for Man Utd a changed man after being rejuvenated by the international break with France.

The Red Devils' midfielder has struggled to find his form at Old Trafford so far this season, and his latest comments have poured further doubt on his future at the club.

After joining up with the French national team, Pogba admitted: "This is a period, the kind of which I have never experienced in my career.

"The France team is a breath of fresh air, the group is exceptional, it’s magic.

"It’s not that in the club we don’t have fun, but here it’s not the same. We laugh. It’s really a family."

But while Pogba's words rang alarm bells at United, Ferdinand feels there is little to be concerned about.

"I understand what he's saying," Ferdinand said. "You don't want to hear it as a Manchester United fan, first and foremost, but we've been there, we know that when you're in bad form as an individual, or collective as a team, going away with your national side is very much a breath of fresh air.

"It means you can take your mind off that pressure, get out of that pressure, go into international football and get a bit of confidence back.

"I think that's what Paul's done with two good games. He'll be in a different frame of mind after that."

Sadly for United, Pogba was forced out of Saturday's clash with West Brom due to a minor injury, though could be in contention for the Champions League tie against Istanbul Basaksehir on Tuesday.

Boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer insisted the 27-year-old remains an "important player" in his plans, but ex-United midfielder Paul Scholes was not so sure, as he questioned Pogba's commitment.

"[I'm] a little bit disappointed after playing two games for France that he's unavailable," Scholes said. "But, having said that, would he have played anyway? I'm not sure he would."
