Rio and Kate Ferdinand reveal they're expecting a baby boy

Kate Ferdinand and her husband Rio have announced their first child together will be a baby boy.

The couple, who married last year, held a gender reveal party with close family and friends to reveal the news, sharing the intimate moment on Instagram.

Posting a picture of the blue confetti fluttering through the air, Kate, 29, wrote: “It’s a boy, me and Tia are outnumbered!”

Rio, 41, also shared pictures of his children, Lorenz, 14, Tate, 12, and nine-year-old Tia celebrating excitedly at the news.

“It’s a boy!” he wrote. “The boys ruling this house!”

The celebration comes after former TOWIE star Kate went on a luxury babymoon with Rio and her stepchildren, with her ever-growing bump on show as she posed in a patterned bikini.

Kate has documented her pregnancy on social media, first announcing in June that she's expecting with an adorable video of them revealing the news to the children.

While they are a close family unit, Kate has opened up about her struggle to become a mother figure to Rio’s children following the tragic death of Rio’s first wife, Rebecca, in 2015.

In their BBC documentary Becoming a Family, that aired in January this year, Kate explained her decision to give up her place in the TOWIE cast and focus on family life.

Kate now entertains a balance with being in the public eye and interacting with fans on social media.

“I'm just being more open and honest with everything. I've found a happy-medium,” she explained.

“We compare ourselves to everyone's best bits and we don't always know what's going on.

“So I've made a conscious effort to try and be more open and honest and share not always the great bits of my life and that makes me feel better as well because you haven't got as much pressure to live up to what everything thinks is happening.”
