Rio and Kate Ferdinand fans 'sobbing' as she comforts his daughter at her mum's grave

Viewers of BBC One's Rio and Kate: Becoming a Stepfamily were left in tears tonight when they watched an emotional scene between Kate Wright and her stepdaughter Tia Ferdinand.

Kate and her husband Rio Ferdinand had taken his three children to visit their mum Rebecca's grave on Mother's Day which is in the same cemetery where is own mum Janice is buried.

As they put down their flowers eight-year-old Tia started to cry, saying: "I miss mummy and nanny."

Kate pulled her in for a cuddle and offered her some comforting words, telling her: "They want you to be happy though, don't they?

"They're always with you they just cant be with you in person can they?

"They love you and they want you to be happy."

The heartbreaking scene left viewers "sobbing" just a few minutes into the documentary.

One tweeted: "6 minutes in and already crying! Kate you are an amazing human, that Mother's Day message was beautiful."

A third tweeted: "Sobbing my heart out at #rioandkatebecomingastepfamily what an amazing woman Kate is."

"Not even 10 mins in and sobbing already at #RioAndKateBecomingAStepFamily," another said.

Rio's late wife Rebecca tragically lost her battle with breast cancer in 2015.

Just two years later his mum Janice died after her own battle with cancer.

He married Kate last year in a lavish ceremony in Turkey.

She has become a stepmum to Tia and his sons Lorenz, 13, and Tate, 11.
