Rino Gattuso in Sean Connery Rangers tribute as World Cup winner shares 'beautiful memories' of acting icon

Former Rangers midfielder Rino Gattuso has paid an emotional tribute to Sean Connery following the death of the acting legend.

The James Bond icon passed away on Saturday at the age of 90 with tributes pouring in from across the globe.

The actor was a keen Rangers fan and was a regular at Ibrox during the late 1990s and early 2000s.

Connery was there so often that Gattuso was under the impression he was on the board, and after his death a legendary exchange went viral.

The actor implored the Italian to stay at Ibrox via his friend Murray, only to receive a blunt: "Tell Sean Connery to mind his own f***ing business".

Despite that though the Napoli boss has fond memories of the star, and he paid tribute to him following his side's defeat to Sassuolo.

Gattuso said: "I only met him once.

"The president then was David Murray, he was part of the board and, it's true, one evening he spoke to me and he didn't want me to leave.

"I just want to send a big hug to all of his family, I definitely have beautiful memories of him.

"He had a great charm, great personality, he made cinema history."

Gattuso was then asked whether Sir Sean had ever tried to convince him to get into acting.

He replied: "No, because I definitely didn't have his charm.

"Let me say again, I'll always carry him in my memories."
