A much-loved football club say they're fearing for their young players as youths are playing with fireworks beside them as they train.
Ringsend's Cambridge FC have said they've seen a "big increase" in anti-social behaviour around their grounds and have urged "all parents" to talk to their kids in the run up to Halloween.
The popular club say a group of youths have been letting off fireworks right beside their astro pitches where kids are training - and as well as the kids' safety they say one accident could see the club "cease to provide the great football outlet it offers to ALL the kids from this area".
They said: "Since Cambridge FC set up our Facebook page we have tried to keep messages as positive as possible but unfortunately this one bucks the trend.
"The last few nights has seen a big increase in antisocial behaviour down in Ringsend Park, particularly during the training hours our teams use which are 5pm to 9.30pm.
"As it's the lead up to Halloween it also meant that young lads think it's fun to set off fireworks right beside the small astro as our players train.
"What makes matters worse is the fact that quite a few of these lads are locals .
"We as a club are fearful that a young player, one of our coaches or maybe even a parent may be struck by one of these fireworks .
"We appeal to ALL the parents in the area to TALK to your children, find out if they are involved and make them see that what they think is fun is anything but.
"One wayward firework could cause serious injury and see our club cease to provide the great football outlet it offers to ALL the kids from this area.
