Ringo Starr to reunite with Paul McCartney for virtual 80th birthday party

Ringo Starr is reuniting with Paul McCartney for an 80th birthday party next week, but only online due to the coronavirus.

The Beatles drummer is bringing together his former bandmate, 78, and Sheryl Crow for a star-studded home event.

Ringo’s Big Birthday Show will air on July 7 on his YouTube channel.

He revealed he had to cancel his family joining him in LA for a bash so switched it to a virtual do.

Ringo, who has been quarantined at his Beverly Hills mansion for 11 weeks, said: “I love birthdays.

"This year is going to be a little different. There’s no big get-together, there’s no brunch for 100 and no gangs of people outside.

“But we’re putting this show together – a TV hour of music and chat.

"I had big plans for all my kids and grandkids coming from England and my pals to have a huge thing. That is just how it is.”

The event will raise money for charities including Black Lives Matter Global Network, MusiCares and WaterAid.

The vegetarian also revealed that eating broccoli and blueberries keeps him looking young. In an interview with Rolling Stone magazine, pointing to his head, he said: “Man, I’m only 24 in here.”
