Our homes are our castles, and should be protected at all costs - but luckily for us, this October, home security is about to get much more affordable.

Yes that’s right - internet giant Amazon has unveiled its plan for a second mega sale ahead of Black Friday in November.

Called the Prime Early Access Sale, it will be held over October 11 and 12.

Scroll on for more information on this year’s inaugural event, how to get the best deals and why Amazon’s Ring Video doorbell should be at the very top of your shopping list.

When does the Amazon Prime Early Access Sale start? When does the Amazon Prime Early Access Sale end?

It’s begun! Deals started from 00:01 am on October 11 and will last right the way through until one minute to midnight, 23.59, on October 12. Mllions of products ripe for the picking with sensationally slashed RRPs.

What type of deals are available?

With the two main deal types that Amazon operates throughout the event, there’s not a second to spare. Lightning Deals are where you’ll find the most in-demand offers, often at prices that’ll have you rubbing your eyes in disbelief. The trick is to move fast (they’re often valid for a few hours) and bag them quickly because regret is a terrible thing. Once they’re gone, folks - they’re gone.

Daily deals, or Deals of the Day, are less high-octane, but still chock full of incredible offers. Sale prices will stay valid for around 24 hours giving you more time to mull over your purchase. However, these are often also available in limited quantities, so don’t take too long to think it over. By the time you’re ready to buy, it might be too late.

Then there are deals that will span the entire duration of the October sales event.

What deals on Ring Video Doorbells were there in July this year?

Amazon’s own-brand tech are among the best deals to scoop on Amazon Prime Day, and the Ring Video Doorbell, as one of the newer inventions, is up there for the highest in demand. Typically there was around 50 per cent off these door-answering gadgets which are so easy to install, even the biggest DIY-phobe (hello friends) can master it.

What does the Ring Video Doorbell do?

The camera doorbell connects to an app on your phone, allowing you to screen guests, delivery people, expected visitors and more. You can see and talk to them through the device’s speaker if you’re not able or willing to come to the door. There’s motion detection and colour night vision in the latest design, the Ring Video Doorbell Pro 2. With flexi-working now commonplace, you need never miss a parcel again if you’re at the office or at a meeting.

Paring a Ring doorbell with a compatible device such as an Echo is a great first step to upgrading your home the Smart way.

Do you need a Prime account to get the deals?

Just like Amazon Prime Day, this sale is for Prime subscribers exclusively. If you want a look in on the discounts, you must have a Prime account.

Aside from saving on millions of products and getting free Next Day delivery options (even Same Day delivery in some cities - now that’s customer service), membership opens the door to a world of online storage, entertainment and content, from the latest TV shows on Prime Video to your favourite albums through Amazon Music. Read books and magazines as part of your membership, plug into the latest games on Twitch and save your most precious memories online with Amazon’s image storage, freeing up space on your devices.

Amazon has even partnered with companies like Deliveroo and National Express to offer even more perks to Prime members.

All this for a mere £95 per year, or £8.99 a month. No need to pay upfront: Amazon will even give you a month’s free trial to try membership out for size. And if you’re a student, it’s only £4.49 per month; or £47.49 for the year. It’s a no-brainer.
