Ring doorbell appeal after car searched and bikes stolen

Doorbell footage has been released of two men police would like to speak to as part of an investigation into incidents including the theft of two bikes.

Officers at Cheshire Constabulary are keen to speak to the men as part of an investigation into reports on Sunday, May 8, that an unknown person had accessed an insecure car on Rudheath Lane in Sandymoor, Runcorn, and made an untidy search.

A force spokesman said officers were made aware that same day two bicycles had been stolen from a garden on the same road. Both incidents are believed to have happened between 7pm on Saturday, May 7, and 1am on Sunday. May 8.

The 20-second clip shows a man in a cap with his lower face covered approach the area near the camera, closely followed by a man initially with no clothing on his head who then pulls his hood up.

After the first man quickly bends down below the Ring doorbell camera's perch, they then turn and leave.

PC Dawn Taylor, of Runcorn Beat Team, said: “This investigation is ongoing and as part of our enquiries we’re keen to speak to the two men in the CCTV footage as we believe they may have crucial information which may help us in our investigation.

“If you think you recognise the men, or have any information in relation to the incident, please call the team here at Runcorn on 101. I would also like to appeal directly to the men in the CCTV footage to get in touch to help us progress with our investigation.”
