Riley Ridley checking all the boxes at Bears rookie minicamp

The Chicago Bears didn’t enter the 2019 NFL draft with a need at wide receiver, but when former Georgia standout Riley Ridley was still on the board in the fourth round, GM Ryan Pace couldn’t pass him up.

Ridley’s grade was just too high, and regardless of how deep Chicago’s depth chart is at the position, adding a player with his ability will only help breed more competition and, eventually, better on-field results.

Ridley had his first chance to impress the coaching staff during Chicago’s rookie minicamp last week, and he did just that.

“I thought Riley had a good day,” Nagy said Saturday via the team’s website. “I thought he looked good, not a lot of mental errors.”

The best way for a rookie to get on the field early in his career is to play mistake-free football, so if this minicamp performance is an indication of how quickly Ridley will assimilate himself to the Bears’ offense, it will be hard to keep him off the field in 2019.
