Riley expects Bosh situation to 'run its course and take care of itself'

MIAMI _ While Miami Heat President Pat Riley declined Wednesday to address the timing or approach the team will take to divest itself of Chris Bosh's salary-cap hit, he reiterated his preseason stance.

"Down the road," he said, "we don't have Chris' services."

Bosh has been away from the team since failing his preseason physical, after missing the second half of the previous two seasons due to blood clots. The Heat are expected to seek salary-cap relief from the NBA in advance of resetting their roster this offseason. Bosh has two more seasons on his contract, which will be paid in full by the Heat and insurance.

"It's been discussed enough and it's being discussed, but there's no resolution to it right now," Riley said during his postseason media session at AmericanAirlines Arena.

"Look, there isn't anybody in this organization that feels worse for C.B. than I do. It got a little sideways at the end because of feelings and things of that nature."

The Heat eventually will need independent medical confirmation that Bosh, 33, is not able to safely to continue to his career.

"I think in due time it will run its course and take care of itself," Riley said. "But I can't give you definitive answer."

Riley said there have been direct overtures.

"There (have) been conversations with the organization and with Chris personally," Riley said. "I'll leave that at that."
