Rihanna turns up in Chester-le-Street to cheer on West Indies in the Cricket World Cup

In quite possibly the most random showbiz story of the year Rihanna has turned up in Chester-le-Street to watch the cricket.

As West Indies took on Sri Lanka in the sun at the Durham CCC Emirates Riverside ground in the Cricket World Cup , TV cameras zoomed in on Rihanna in the crowd and Twitter was quickly awash with stunned reactions to her being there.

Someone exclaimed "RIHANNA IS WATCHING CRICKET...OMG! OMG! OMG" and another tweeted "Rihanna is at the cricket she’s actually a goddess."

Uploading a picture of her arriving at the ground, another fan posted "someone tell me why bad gal ri ri is at the cricket match in durham today rihanna love you."

Others were less than impressed on Sky Sports' focus on Rihanna being at the match to support the West Indies, ranting "Surprised SkyCricketmanaged to take the camera off Rihanna long enough to show that catch. Leave the girl alone to enjoy her cricket wander us watch the match!"

Rihanna's appearance in Chester-le-Street comes the day after West Indies cricket legend Chris Gayle headed to Newcastle to enjoy a curry at recently opened Indian restaurant My Delhi.

Wonder if Rihanna will head to The Wicket Gate 'Spoons up the road for a few bevvies after or maybe she'll go for a curry at Cookson Spice?

She might even fancy a trip to Beamish for a trip back in time and some fish and chips?
