Rihanna, Sting and Bruno Mars to sing together at Grammy awards

Sting, Rihanna and Bruno Mars will sing together at this Sunday's 55th Grammy awards in Los Angeles, with the show also including a duet by Ed Sheeran and Sir Elton John.

Although it is not that hard to imagine Rihanna sharing a recording studio with Bruno Mars, neither artist seems a natural fit with Sting, but fans are already predicting the former Police frontman will appear on a rendition of Locked Out of Heaven – Mars's avowed attempt to write a Police song. "I started singing that, and I was up there in Stingville, in that register, so that's what you get," he told MTV News.

Other Grammys performers will reportedly include Frank Ocean, the Lumineers, Mumford & Sons, Kelly Clarkson, the Black Keys and Maroon 5. There are even more luminaries among the list of award presenters: Prince, Beyoncé, Jennifer Lopez, Katy Perry and Carly Rae Jepsen.

For the second time, LL Cool J will host the gala; on this occasion the rapper is also promoting his first new album since 2008. "I'm excited and grateful to be back," he told USA Today. "I'd like to see more hip-hop [on the show], but you could make an argument for more of everything. The Grammys have made a huge statement by taking a hip-hop icon and making him their host."

Frank Ocean, Mumford & Sons, Fun, the Black Keys' Dan Auerbach, Jay-Z, and Kanye West lead this year's Grammy nominations. Bruce Springsteen will be honoured as the MusiCares person of the year.
