Rihanna shuts down the red carpet in Fenty at Fashion Awards 2019

The 2019 British Fashion Awards red carpet was full of star-studded moments, but none as highly anticipated (or jaw-dropping) as Rihanna’s head-to-toe Fenty look.

As British Vogue reports, the singer turned fashion designer arrived at the Royal Albert Hall in a custom design from her label. Rihanna’s stylist shared that the monochromatic look was “a new way of approaching the evening gown,” with a sheer, oversized shirt worn over a structured satin minidress.

The Fenty minidress essentially came with its own accessories, thanks to its jeweled harness. To match the rest of her look, Rihanna wore a pair of her satin Fenty pumps in the shade Wasabi. The memorable heels have yet to sell out and are available for $690.

Rihanna has previously attended the British Fashion Awards, but this year, Fenty has been nominated under the Urban Luxe category, which celebrates brands that have redefined luxury fashion.

The nomination comes less than one year after Rihanna officially launched the brand in partnership with LVMH. Based in Paris, Fenty made its debut in May, complete with ready to wear, shoes, and accessories.

The luxury fashion brand joined Rihanna’s other successful labels in the fashion and beauty industry - her inclusive lingerie line, Savage x Fenty, and her cosmetics company, Fenty Beauty.

While Rihanna is known for her bold looks on the red carpet, she wasn’t the only attendee to make a statement. Highlights from the evening included actress Shailene Woodley in a blue puffer gown by Moncler Genius (the brand was also nominated for the Urban Luxe award) and model Naomi Campbell, who wore an embellished Alexander McQueen gown to accept the Fashion Icon award.

Actress Julia Roberts also attended the awards ceremony, walking arm-in-arm with Giorgio Armani (naturally, she was wearing one of his creations). The designer was being celebrated with the Outstanding Achievement award for the contributions his namesake line has made to the fashion industry since its founding in 1975.
