Rihanna didn’t attend this year’s Met Gala and fans are so upset she’s trending on Twitter

This year’s Met Gala was star-studded as ever, but missing some especially notable names. Some didn’t attend due to vaccination requirements, like Nicki Minaj, while others didn’t show at all — much to everyone’s surprise. So much so, that Rihanna, one fan favourite who did not attend, is now trending on the social platform.

People online were also disappointed that the annual charity event went on without Zendaya, Lady Gaga, Beyoncé, Ariana Grande, Katy Perry or a handful of other celebrities known for unique red-carpet looks.

Hundreds of tweets expressed disappointment about the lack of their favourite Met Gala attendees, referencing various groups — some missed Taylor Swift but not Ariana Grande, and so on. But all had one person in common: Rihanna. Hence, her trending on the platform.

Many took to the app to express disappointment that while their favorite celebrities didn’t attend, others they don’t like, or they feel didn’t “deserve” an invite, did.

We don’t know if we’ve ever seen something bring the internet together quite like this before.

Rihanna, where are you? We need you.

Fingers crossed RiRi makes an appearance at an after-party, because we’re genuinely concerned for Rihanna stans.
