Right-wing media scapegoat European migrants

The Independent devotes today's front page and a couple of inside pages to "the hottest political issue of our time": immigration. It includes a short sidebar about the "scapegoating" of immigrants by "Britain's right-wing media", providing examples from the Sunday Express (Romania's "HIV Children bringing Timebomb to Britain"); The Sun (British workers have lost half of their wages due to eastern European migration); and the Daily Star ("Immigrants to Flood In"). It concludes: "Self-employed plasterers, plumbers, electricians and other skilled workers represent not only a crucial battleground for the Labour and Conservative parties but also core readers for newspapers such as The Sun, the Daily Mail and the Daily Express." I'm not quite certain what that means though. (Via Media)
