Right-wing influencers call for 'civil war' after killing of Charlie Kirk

RIGHT-WING influencers have called for a civil war in the United States after the assassination of political activist Charlie Kirk.

A number of voices influential in online communities on the right have characterised Kirk’s murder as an act of “war” and some have called for the Democrats to be registered as terrorist organisation, despite the motives of the attack being unclear with the perpetrator still at large.

Elon Musk, owner of Twitter/X and formerly employed by Donald Trump’s White House, said: “If they won’t leave us in peace, then our choice is fight or die.”

In another tweet, the billionaire said: “The Left is the party of murder.”

Fox News host Jesse Watters, speaking on TV, said: “They are at war with us, whether we want to accept it or not, they are at war with us. And what are we going to do about it? How much political violence are we going to tolerate?”

He added: “Everybody’s accountable and we’re watching what they’re saying on television and who’s saying what, the politicians, the media and all these rats out there. This can never happen again.”

Joey Mannarino, a right-wing commentator tweeted: “I hope that every ‘moderate’ Republican has now become radicalized and is ready to do everything they can do to utterly ensure the Democrat Party, a Satanic death cult, is eradicated from power and all who follow them are ostracized from polite society.

“The Democrats are literally cheering on this assassination. We’ve all seen the videos they’ve been posting.

“Don’t be fooled the political Democrats putting out boilerplate AI statements saying that they feel sorry. We can’t even imagine what they’re saying in private. It’s now time to pick a side, America.”

In another post, he added: “The Democrat Party must be classified as a domestic terror organisation and their members and leaders treated accordingly. Enough is enough.”

Brian Eastwood, whose Twitter/X account boasts more than 34,000 followers, said: “Charlie Kirk getting shot is the shot heard around the country.

“I’m ready for civil war.

In response to posts from Democrat congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (above) and liberal news outlet MSNBC, the CEO and co-founder of rightwing news site The Federalist Sean Davis characterised both as “demons”.

In a separate post, he said: “When Democrats lose elections they couldn’t steal, they murder the people they were unable to defeat.”

Kirk was shot dead while speaking at an event at Utah Valley University on Wednesday.

A deeply divisive figure, he tweeted the day before his death: “Islam is the sword the left is using to slit the throat of America.”

He had also recently said that it was “worth it to have a cost of, unfortunately, some gun deaths every single year” so that the right to bear arms remained enshrined in the US constitution.

Turning Point UK, the British branch of Kirk's right-wing pressure group, has announced it will hold a vigil for the late activist on Friday in Whitehall, central London.
