'Right now I don’t think so' - Everton star James Rodriguez opens up on his future

James Rodriguez has ruled out a return to Real Madrid and has addressed the idea of finishing his career back in his native Colombia.

The playmaker joined Everton on a free transfer from the La Liga giants last summer.

And he has enjoyed an impressive start to life at Goodison, recording five goals and eight assists from 21 appearances in all competitions.

There was speculation in some quarters earlier this month that the 29-year-old was unhappy in England and would look to return to Spain at the end of the season, though this was dismissed outright by both the player and Blues boss Carlo Ancelotti.

But during a Twitch livestream, Rodriguez was asked about his future and whether he'd consider a return to Real Madrid or a move back to Colombia.

"Nobody wants me there anymore," he said of his former club. "That’s part of football, guys."

"It’s not in my plans, really (to move to Colombia)," he added.

"Who knows in two, three or four years because life and football takes many turns, but I think not.

"Right now I don’t think so."

Everton are next in action on Monday night at home to Southampton in the Premier League.
