Ridvan Yilmaz 'wants' Rangers transfer exit as Besiktas test Ibrox resolve after firm Gio van Bronckhorst stance

Beskitas are reportedly set to offer Ridvan Yilmaz a loan exit from Rangers in January - with claims that the full-back "wants" to leave the Scottish Premiership after just six months to rejoin the club he signed from.

The Ibrox side spent big on Yilmaz last summer with £5million paid out to Besiktas as Gio van Bronckhorst and sporting director Ross Wilson looked to bring in competition for Borna Barisic. However he has been a largely peripheral figure since his big money move from Turkey, managing just seven appearances in all competitions since putting pen to paper with the Light Blues.

Reports in Turkey now suggest that a return to Beskitas could be on the cards as the defender looks for a temporary exit from Rangers to ramp up his game time. FotoMac state that sporting director Ceyhun Kazanci hopes to meet with Rangers powerbrokers to negotiate a return for the 21-year-old on a six-month deal with boss Senol Gunes unhappy with the performances of West Ham loanee Arthur Masuaku.

Masuaku is the only first-team left-back option at Vodafone Park. The report notes that Yilmaz "wants" the move if the clubs can agree a deal. Last month, Van Bronckhorst insisted that Yilmaz would not be allowed to leave the Scottish Premiership side and handed the Turkish international a brief run in the team ahead of Barisic. However, that progress stalled by a hamstring injury.

At the time the Dutchman offered a blistering defence of the defender, stating: “How many players do you see who move for £70m or £80m and are still adapting to their clubs? And yet every time we have players who need to adapt it’s a problem?

“For him, it’s a really big step. First he needs to adapt to that and adapt to new team-mates, a new playing style and new tactics. But he is much closer now to starting than he was a few months ago. So for me, there is no debate about loaning him out or anything. Nothing. I’m happy with his development. I can see a difference now from the Ridvan who came and the Ridvan at the moment. He is in a much better place and that’s why we gave him some minutes again –because he’s doing well."
