Ridvan Yilmaz 'on verge' of Rangers January transfer exit

Ridvan Yilmaz is on the verge of leaving Rangers, according to a report.

The Scottish Sun claims the Turkish left-back is closing in on a transfer to Serie A side Verona.

Reports in Italy state Verona has agreed a £3m move for Yilmaz.

Philippe Clement is keen to sign a new left back in this window with Borna Barisic's deal up in the summer.

There has been speculation linking the Ibrox club with a move for ex-Hibernian defender Josh Doig - who currently plays for Verona.

But this new report states that any hopes of Doig moving in the other direction to Yilmaz are fading.

Torino are believed to be in pole position to sign the 21-year-old Scottish starlet. It's said they have offered Verona a player-plus-cash deal for Doig. They have tabled an offer of £3.5m plus add-ons, as well as a sell-on clause and Gvidas Gineitis.

Leeds United and Monza are also believed to be interested in Doig, who is contracted to Verona until 2026. Doig moved to Serie A in 2021, as he pocketed Hibs £3m.

So with Doig looking likely to move on in this window, Yilmaz appears to be his replacement.

This report claims that Clement could now turn his attention to FC Twente full-back Gijs Smal as a replacement for Yilmaz.

Meanwhile, Rangers won't face a transfer battle with Celtic to land Scott McKenna, according to a report.

It's claimed Brendan Rodgers is not interested in a move for the Scotland international.

It comes after reports on Friday linked both Celtic and Rangers with a January swoop for the Nottingham Forest centre-back.

McKenna, 27, hasn't played for club side Forest since September and is expected to depart the club during the current transfer window.
