'Ridiculous' - Sky Sports pundit issues blunt Nottingham Forest verdict

Sky Sports pundit Keith Andrews says Steve Cooper must be given time at Nottingham Forest but admitted that owner Evangelos Marinakis can be "slightly volatile".

The former MK Dons midfielder was speaking on the Sky Sports EFL Podcast, in which he was discussing the Reds' appointment of Cooper as head coach.

The former Swansea chief replaced Chris Hughton who was sacked after a dismal start to the season making him the 14th managerial appointment in 11 years.

Cooper has been brought in to help develop young players and making them assets while also trying to achieve success on the pitch at the City Ground.

Andrews says it is essential for Cooper to be given breathing space having formed an excellent reputation for his coaching but conceded Marinakis can be impatient.

"The owner as we know can be slightly volatile," said Andrews.

“He’s shown it in his club in Greece, Olympiacos, with the amount of managers and obviously the amount of managers pre-this owner as well at Nottingham Forest has been ridiculous.

“So consistency is needed, he [Cooper] needs to be given time to get this right.”

Cooper takes charge of his second game in charge of the Reds on Wednesday night when the Reds face Barnsley at Oakwell.
