'Ridiculous' - Nottingham Forest fans' delight at big Sabri Lamouchi news

On the eve of Nottingham Forest’s return to Championship action, the Reds have given their players and supporters a timely boost.

Head coach Sabri Lamouchi has agreed a new two-year contract at the City Ground with the option of a third, and the news has been universally welcomed.

Lamouchi, who only arrived on Trentside last summer replacing club legend Martin O’Neill, has guided Forest into the top six this term and seen them flirt with the automatic places, even topping the Championship table in September.

With nine games remaining of the current campaign, Forest and Lamouchi have now a wonderful opportunity to secure a play-off spot for the first time since 2013 and they'll do so knowing their manager is intent on sticking around.

Forest currently occupy fifth spot in the table and have a five-point cushion to Bristol City in seventh, with the Robins due on Trenside in a classic promotion six-pointer in the coming weeks.

Before then, however, Lamouchi will head to Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday with a degree of security knowing he’s been given a longer term deal to achieve the Reds’ goal of securing promotion back to the Premier League after an absence of 20 years.

Fans on social media have been jubilant at the news, and here’s a snapshot of what they’ve been saying…
