'Ridiculous' - Nottingham Forest fans debate bargain transfers featuring current duo

Nottingham Forest fans have been having their say on who is the club’s biggest bargain in the transfer market.

The Reds have been blessed with many great players down the years, whether they be signings brought to the club or homegrown talents through the Nigel Doughty academy.

Players like Roy Keane, Stuart Pearce and Peter Shilton all arrived at the club for relatively small fees, but made a significant impact while on Trentside.

In the case of Keane, he made 65 apearances for the Reds before signing for Manchester United for a then British-record transfer fee of £3.75m.

Forest fans have been having their say on who have been bargain buys down the year, here is a selection of what they had to say.

Gill Gamston: “Robbo. He was already at Forest when the Gaffer turned up. Best decision they made was to keep him.”

Philip Hardy: “Had some very decent signing, in the past. The likes of Pearce, Shilton, Keane. Present day Ribeiro and Samba Sow.”

Chris Watson: “Got to be Keane. Became a I’m transfer record and won all sorts at United man.”

Russell Gillett: “Garry Birtles. To be fair we've had a lot.”

Michael Bochenski: “Peter Shilton. £250k at a time when paying that much for a goalie was thought ridiculous. 1 League Championship, 2 European Cups, 1 Super Cup and a League Cup later ... that had changed.”

Scott Day: “Woan and Crosby too both from non league.”

Richard Ward: “Brian Rice #footballgenius.”
