Rider knocked off motorbike by charging deer leaping onto track during race

A biker has escaped serious injuries after bumping into a deer while competing in a 40-mile endurance race.

Wesley Gustine, 27, and his teammates were participating the Texas State Championship Enduro Circuit in Columbus last November.

In a GoPro footage taken by his friend Justin Bird, Wesley is seen emerging from Justin's right as he overtakes in the race at the Knesek Ranch.

Wesley, who dressed in a bright pink jumpsuit, speeds forward as a wild buck appears from his right at high speed.

The animal leaps onto the track and knocks Wesley out of his bike.

Stunned Justin can be heard yelling in the background: "Woah!"

He gasped: "Holy s***! I got that all on GoPro too. Holy s***."

Another teammate drove back to check and the deer had already run towards the bush.

Justin continued: "I saw you, yeah you couldn't have gotten away with that. We should be pretty close to the end anyway."

The accident left Wesley suffered a minor concussion, whiplash, scrapes and bruises.

Wesley said the buck was probably scared by the sound of the motorbike engines.

He explained: "My guess is this guy [the deer] was sleeping somewhere and another rider at another part of the course spooked him and caused him to take off like he did.'

He received a Did Not Finish for the race after the bizarre incident.
