A cyclist has died during the Ride London race between the capital and Surrey, his family has said.
Robin Chard's relatives said he was raising money for Cancer Research UK, having suffered from Hodgkin Lymphoma as a child.
Tributes have been paid to the 48-year-old, from Oxford, on his Just Giving fundraising page.
Ashleigh Ann Day wrote: “Uncle Robin, so incredibly proud of your efforts in the Prudential 100 bike ride today in London.
“Sadly, he didn’t make it to the end but he passed away raising money for a charity close to his heart. If anyone can still donate in his memory I know how much he would appreciate it.”
An anonymous poster wrote: "Hi daddy, I'm so proud of you. Well done for getting as far as you did. I love you so so so much, I know you'll be proud of all the money you raised. You did such an amazing thing. I love you xxxxxxxx".
The race was marred by two serious crashes, one of which happened in Pyrford near Woking and the other in Thames Ditton.
An air ambulance was scrambled to assist one victim.
Revealing his reasons for taking part in the race, Mr Chard wrote on his fundraising page that his dad and his mother's long term partner both died of lung cancer.
Another tribute, from Emma Norton-Smith read: "RIP Robin, I can't quite believe the news. Many childhood memories with your family. Much love to you all xxx".
