Ricky Hatton makes prediction for Anthony Joshua vs Andy Ruiz Jr rematch

Ricky Hatton has backed Anthony Joshua to win his rematch with Andy Ruiz Jr.

Joshua was dropped four times en-route to a seventh-round stoppage defeat by the Mexican-American last month.

He immediately triggered the rematch clause in the contract and will bid to win back his three heavyweight titles this winter.

Several pundits have questioned Joshua's decision to fight Ruiz again so quickly, but Hatton is confident his fellow Brit will prevail.

"Sometimes people come back from defeats with a vengeance and some people they never come back the same," he told talkSPORT .

"If you have to ask me as an outsider, I'd say he beats Ruiz nine times out of ten, for me.

"Even though he's a very, very dangerous fighter and he’s got very, very fast hands and he's already planted that danger in Anthony’s mind.

"I think it's a decision for the people that know Anthony best.

"I think he's a better fighter than Ruiz, so I would get straight back in."

The new champion, meanwhile, has promised he will be in even better shape for the second installment.

"The rematch is going to be the same. I am going to be more prepared and more ready," Ruiz said.

"I know his flaws. I can do a lot better. The only thing that he can do is just run around, he's not good at boxing.

"People thought I wasn't going to do anything, I was too big, too overweight. I don't want to say all the things I am going to change.

"There is going to be a lot of changing, I am going to come at a better weight this time. It's going to be a hell of a fight."
