Ricky Hatton has hit out after being criticised for his x-rated fancy dress costume at Benidorm festival.
The Mancunian boxer attended the Spanish resort during its fiesta season and got involved in the annual British fancy dress day celebrations.
But the sportsman got in hot water on social media when a picture of him emerged at the event dressed as a jockey… with a giant, sequin laden penis hanging in front of his clothing.
Critics on a Benidorm Facebook page suggested he should not have worn such a revealing outfit “when there are kids around” - but Ricky was having none of it, saying the festival is not a family event.
Taking to Twitter, he raged: “Simply a joke the stick I’ve got for my costume at the festival weekend in Benidorm?
“The festival weekend there isn’t a child in site [sic] and if you take your child to the weekend then you need to have a serious look at yourself.”
The 41-year-old wasn't the only one having a great time as thousands of revellers descend on the resort every year to take part in the November party.
But, he insisted, children were not part of the celebrations.
He continued: “It’s not for kids. You have sticky Vicky, sexy Barbara and all things going on such as that and I’m getting grief for what I wore.
“Family weekend??? Papers seriously need to do their homework before they start printing garbage.”
Back at home, Ricky is currently working with Love Island star Tommy Fury on his return to boxing.
Tommy will make his return to the ring on December 12 and trains at Ricky's gym in Hyde.
