Ricky Gervais shares health update after 'worst eight hours of his life'

Ricky Gervais has issued a health update after sharing on social media that he'd lived through the "worst eight hours of illness" of his life. The comedian told his 15.1 million Twitter followers he was suffering from severe abdominal pains, hot sweats, and chills.

In true Ricky style, the 61-year-old added that he wanted to know who put the "12 gravy bombs up my a**e." Taking to the platform on Thursday, May 11, the After Life star said: "I'm not well today. In fact I'd say I just lived through the worst 8 hours of illness of my life.

"Severe abdominal pains, vomiting every time I moved, (but only tiny bits of bile), hot sweats and chills, oh, and I really want to know who planted the 12 gravy bombs up my a**e."

The Office writer was inundated with supportive messages, as one follower wrote: "So sorry for your woes. Feel better soon. Don't think about rich and greasy foods."

While another added: "So sorry you’re poorly," and a third commented: "Get better. That’s an order. Thanks."

Later Ricky returned to Twitter to share a health update, revealing he was feeling "weak" but was out of bed as he thanked fans for their support. He told his followers: "Update: I'm out of bed and I've had a bath.

"Feel weak and annoyed that I wasted a whole day, but that is a huge improvement on believing that I was definitely going to die. Thanks for all your well wishes." For more showbiz and television stories get our newsletter here.
