The first trailer for Ricky Gervais’ Office spin-off movie David Brent: Life on the Road has been released.
Gervais himself tweeted the trailer on Thursday, for the film which he is writing and directing, as well as starring in. As has been previously revealed, Brent is working as a sales rep for a “Slough based cleaning products distributor” called Lavichem, while attempting to forge a career as a singer-songwriter.
The trailer confirms that Life on the Road will be shot in a similar mockumentary style as The Office, and that Lavichem’s HQ – superficially at least – resembles that of paper products outfit Wernham Hogg. The trailer also details, at some length, the contents of one of Brent’s songs – “It’s about rock’n’roll, but it’s a metaphor for sex” – which he then proceeds to sing: “I’m gonna roll you over/And rock you stupid.”
David Brent: Life on the Road is due to be released in the UK on 19 August.
