Ricky Gervais admits 'naps won't be the same' as he mourns over loss of beloved cat Ollie

Ricky Gervais is missing naps with his beloved Siamese cat Ollie after she tragically died on Tuesday .

The emotional comedian, 58, was left heartbroken and later admitted that "naps won't be the same" without his furry friend.

He broke the news on Twitter alongside two pictures of Ollie, writing: "Just had to say goodbye to the sweetest little soul I’ve ever known. RIP Ollie July 9th 2003 - March 10th 2020."

And today the After Life star is feeling lost without his sidekick, taking to Instagram to share a snap of him cuddling into his sweet cat.

"Naps won't be the same," Ricky painfully wrote.

The adorable photo showed Gervais lying on his side and fast asleep, with Ollie tucked into his arms, with just her paws hanging over Ricky's hands.

It's a hard time for Ricky, who has told fans he is grieving over the loss of his beautiful cat.

She was gifted to him by Jonathan Ross on the presenter's show back in 2003.

But she fell ill in April last year and needed her stomach fur shaved so she could have an IV drip inserted.

Ollie recovered, but appeared to fall ill again over the weekend, and was unable to get better.

At the time he shared the awful news, his partner Jane Fallon also tweeted out a tribute to the playful cat, as she was also left devastated.

"I have awful news. My smart, funny, feisty, beautiful sidekick of the last 16 & a half years  @myleftfang  has passed away after a sudden down turn in her health at the weekend," she wrote.

Ollie was named after Ricky's comedy idol Oliver Hardy and had thousands of her own followers on  Twitter  under the handle @myleftfang.
