Shamrock Rovers boss Stephen Bradley has confirmed that former Dundalk ace Richie Towell is joining the Hoops on July 1.
Towell, 28, is finishing up with Salford City in the summer and is returning home to Dublin.
"We'll have him 1 July," Bradley told RTE. "He needs a break, he's played a long season so he's free.
"So we just have to be careful because he can't go through, we need to give him a break and then get him in."
Dundalk had also been chasing the signature of Towell, who won two leagues and a FAI Cup at Oriel Park before moving to Brighton in late 2015.
It's another boost to the Hoops' hopes of retaining the league title, after the Hoops moved five points clear at the top by beating closest rivals St Patrick's Athletic on Saturday night.
