Richie Sadlier has brilliant response to Liam Brady's punditry as RTE viewers fume at one point he made

Richie Sadlier joked that Liam Brady told him off air that he was right in all his points after the Republic of Ireland earned a draw against Portugal on Thursday.

The European Qualifier meant little to the Irish in terms of actual qualification, but proved to be another step in the right direction for Stephen Kenny's management.

But RTE pundit Liam Brady wasn't overly impressed by the performance and wouldn't be drawn on if Kenny deserves to keep the hot seat.

Sadlier however was much more upbeat and impressed by the performance as Ronaldo and his teammates were kept scoreless.

He tweeted after the game: "Good performance, decent result, and plenty of reasons for us all to believe we are improving. (and Liam just told me privately that I’m right about everything)"

One comment from former Irish star Brady on the panel particularly riled up viewers as he suggested that Portugal had put out a weakened side.

One viewer tweeted: "If that’s Portugal’s B team i’d hate to play their A team… Ronaldo, Fernandes, Pepe, Semedo, Guedes, Patricio, Silva, Palhinha, Pereira all starting for their “B” team.. Good man Liam Brady, RTE do us a favour."

Another said: "What sort of game was Liam Brady watching? Ronaldo, Bruno etc in the team and he says Ireland struggled against a Portugal B team. Usual old boys club talking nonsense. He'll be advocating Big Sam next watch."

While one added: "Ronaldo, Fernandes, Pepe, Semedo, Guedes, Patricio, Silva, Palhinha, and Pereira, but yes Liam Brady that was Portugal's B team."

Brady will actually be back on tv screens on Friday night as he joins Ryan Tubridy on the Late Late Show.
