Riches cast confirmed for Amazon Prime Video & ITV series as filming for new drama gets underway

Riches is a new show coming to ITV and Amazon Prime Video and focuses upon the exploits of the brash, super-successful and wealthy Richards family.

It is written and created by Abby Ajayi.

Ajayi said about the show: “Riches is a love letter to Black London and it has been thrilling to create the Richards' family and celebrate their opulence, their ambition and their immigrant grit.

"Our talented ensemble of actors are a joy and I’m excited to be partnering with Amazon and ITV."

What is the plot of Riches?

It follows a smart businessman called Stephen Richards' demise after suffering a stroke.

As children from his two marriages rush to be by his side, worlds collide as secrets are uncovered.

With things deeply buried rising to the surface and the Richards empire at stake, it's going to be a complicated family reunion.

It has already been compared to Succession, the hugely successful show about a media tycoon's empire and who might take over his company out of his children.

Who is in the cast of Riches?

The cast of Riches contains some very high profile stars that are already established in their own right.

The cast list includes Deborah Ayorinde who stars as Nina, the estranged daughter of self-made millionaire Stephen Richards, played by Hugh Quarshie.

Sarah Niles plays Stephen’s second wife, Claudia, and Brendan Coyle is Stephen’s trusted adviser and confidante, Gideon.

Hermione Norris will play Stephen’s long-standing and faithful PA, Maureen Dawson.

The cast also includes Adeyinka Akinrinade as Alesha, Ola Orebiyi as Gus, C.J. Beckford as Andre, Nneka Okoye as Wanda, and Emmanuel Imani as Simon.

When is Riches coming out?

Filming has only just started on the drama in London, according to ITV.

ITV's head of drama, Polly Hill, has commissioned Riches to air on ITV in the UK.

She said: "Abby’s scripts are brilliant, full of family feuds in a world of privilege and power that surprise and entertain.

"We are delighted with the brilliant cast we have, and can’t wait to see them bring Abby’s characters to life."

She added it will be a "real treat" for ITV audiences "next year" - so all we know so far is to expect it on our screens in 2022.

Amazon Studios have acquired Riches and will air the drama outside the UK once it has broadcast on ITV.
