Richarlison on effort he makes to help Everton in both attack and defence

Richarlison has revealed how hard he is working to produce for Everton in his role attacking teams while also helping out in defence when needed.

The Brazilian fought tirelessly against Manchester City at the weekend and was one of the standout players despite the 3-1 defeat to the Premier League champions at Goodison Park.

He won eight free-kicks for the Blues and made more tackles than anyone else on the pitch (six) while also forcing Ederson to make a solid save from a header just before half-time.

“When I can’t score goals, I try to help in defence, especially against a team like City who really attack you,” Richarlison said.

“That is what the manger asked from me, to help Seamus Coleman [after switching to the right].

“I am doing what I can and so is everybody in the team, running and working hard.”

Everton had 12 attempts on goal during the game against City and Richarlison says this was down to the efforts his team-mates have been making on the training ground.

“We have been working to create and score more," the attacker told evertontv.

“Ederson played well and pulled off great saves from two Yerry Mina headers and some shots from Dominic Calvert-Lewin.Richarlison told evertontv.

“We wanted to get them on the counter-attack because that is where you hurt Manchester City and we tried to follow the plan Marco Silva had for us.

“Unfortunately it did not get the result against City but that can change in the next games.”
