Richarlison makes Tottenham vow as he sends classy message to Everton after gesture

Richarlison has vowed to make a big name for himself at Tottenham after receiving a brilliant tribute from Everton fans ahead of the match between the sides on Monday evening. With Tottenham making the trip to Goodison Park for the first time since the forward departed the Toffees in a big-money transfer last summer, the Brazil international unfortunately played no part in the contest through injury.

He was recognised by Everton supporters prior to the match, though, as his face featured on a banner of club greats that was hung from the upper tier of the Gwladys Street End. Players such as Peter Reid, Duncan Ferguson and Tim Cahill were all included on the banner alongside former Tottenham midfielder Steven Pienaar.

The tribute from Everton fans was well received by Richarlison, who admitted that it was "Impossible not to feel happy and grateful". Now looking to make a similar impact at Tottenham to the one he made in his four seasons at Goodison Park, the 25-year-old is intent on gaining recognition in N17.

“Not even in my wildest dreams did I imagine receiving this kind of tribute," penned the attacker on his Instagram account. “Even playing in a rival and giving all my blood for the Spurs shirt, it's impossible not to feel happy and grateful. It's the recognition I strive for everywhere I go. And I'm going to do it here too. Thank you, Toffees!”

Tottenham will have to do without Richarlison once again for Saturday's game against Brighton & Hove Albion as he recovers from injury. Acting head coach Cristian Stellini has admitted that the club's No.9 could return in time for the encounter against Bournemouth the following weekend, however.

"No good news about players that come back for the next game," said Stellini in his pre-match press conference at Hotspur Way. "We are getting closer with Richarlison. He trained on the pitch but he trained alone. We are going well with Ben Davies with the plan but we have to wait a bit for him. "

Asked if Richarlison will be ready to return to the field before Davies, Stellini said: "Yes. He trained on the pitch. He is going well and for the next game he could be available."
