Richarlison injury: Tottenham star to undergo scan today with Brazil World Cup hopes in doubt

Tottenham forward Richarlison is due to have a scan on his calf injury on Monday as he waits to find out whether his World Cup dreams have been dashed.

The Brazilian was in tears after he pulled up in the second half of Spurs’ 2-0 win over Everton on Saturday and will undergo tests to determine how long he is sidelined.

Richarlison fears he has suffered a similar injury to the one which kept him out for two months when he was at Everton.

With under six weeks until Brazil play their first game of the World Cup against Serbia on November 24, that would leave his hopes of playing in Qatar hanging by a thread.

Antonio Conte has already ruled Richarlison out of Wednesday’s game against Manchester United at Old Trafford but the 25-year-old will hope for positive news from his scan.

He has established himself as Brazil's No9 ahead of Gabriel Jesus and Roberto Firmino before the World Cup, and scored three times in two matches in last month's international break.

Speaking on Saturday, Richarlison said: “It's kind of hard to say because it's close to the realisation of my dream. I have a scan but even walking hurts. I have to stay positive if I want to go to Qatar.”
