Richarlison explains Aaron Ramsdale row after Tottenham vs Arsenal brawl amid Martinelli 'dive'

Richarlison has spoken out on his antics during the North London Derby as the Brazilian was in the midst of the chaos during and after the game. Despite being a substitute, returning for the first time since the World Cup, he still managed to ruffle the feathers of Arsenal players and fans.

The issue for the 25-year-old was that his behaviour came at a time when his team were 2-0 down and perhaps lucky not be further behind. Although his energy cannot be faulted and his character truly is entertaining, it only goes to fuel the fire of Arsenal fans and players.

Clearly keen to get onto the field and make an impact, Richarlison was straight into the action and the thick of things once subbed on by Conte. He had already made an enemy of right back Takehiro Tomiyasu though. With Arsenal readying themselves for a long throw the Brazilian was trying to put Ben White off his preparation.

The Japanese fullback Richarlison off though, disrupting his attempts to impact the game from the sideline. Richarlison was then involved at the end of the game when Aaron Ramsdale was kicked by a Tottenham fan. The Arsenal keeper was celebrating the victory before Richarlison came over the have a word.

He moved up the England shot-stopper and gestured to him to be quiet, letting tempers flare. Ramsdale moved away from the Spurs forward, going to get his bottle from behind the goal as players moved over to defend his actions and break the two apart. It was then that a fan kicked Ramsdale, sparking a brawl between the two sets of players.

Speaking after the game Richarlison addressed his actions, saying, “What I really didn’t like was their goalkeeper. He was celebrating in front of our fans, that’s a disrespect to our fans. He should have celebrated with their fans.”

He also explained that his countryman Martinelli had been getting under his skin during the game. “I’d like to apologise to Martinelli, I told him he was diving a lot, so I didn’t shake his hand" he added. "Also with [Gabriel] Magalhaes I told him they were stopping play all the time, I just said, 'let’s play.' "

The former Everton man will now have to turn his attention to responding to this defeat with a reaction against Manchester City.
