Richarlison comments on relationship with David Neres as Everton star links up with reported transfer target

Everton forward Richarlison has commented on his relationship with David Neres as the pair link up on international duty.

The Ajax star has already drawn a lot of attention with his performances for the Eredivisie club, not only earning a call-up to the Brazil senior squad but also reportedly attracting the interest of top clubs around Europe.

The 22-year-old has been linked to Everton in the past - with Liverpool, Real Madrid and Manchester United also said to be keeping an eye on the young talent after seeing him bag 12 goals and 15 assists last season.

Richarlison also sparked a social media frenzy on Thursday after sharing a picture of himself with Neres after joining up with the Brazil squad, with many Blues fans suggesting Everton man should convince his international teammate to come to Goodison Park.

And now the Blues star has been speaking about his close relationship with the Ajax man after first meeting in the U20 setup.

"It’s a very good fight because Neres made a great season in the Netherlands and in the Champions League," Richarlison told Globo Esporte (via SportWitness ).

"I get along very well with him, a friendship that comes from the South American U20s. Let’s do our best in training and it’s up to the manager to decide who will play. I’m about to do my best when he needs me.

"I think I and Neres, when we met at the U20 team, everyone said they wanted to get to the first team.

"There’s Neres, me and [Lucas] Paqueta here today. It was everyone’s dream, at the time Brazil were in the qualifiers, and we were in the South American championship with [Gabriel] Jesus scoring a lot of goals.

"He was a guy who was an inspiration because he was our age."

Brazil will face Qatar and Honduras at the beginning of June before taking part in the Copa America - with their opening game against Bolivia coming on June 15.
