Richarlison, Allan and Andre Gomes updates as Carlo Ancelotti reveals extent of Everton injury list

Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed a "quite big" injury list for Everton ahead of their match against Brighton and warned that his squad must be prepared for this weekend's test.

Jonjoe Kenny, Richarlison and Allan were all substituted in the 4-1 win over West Ham in the League Cup at Goodison Park in midweek with injury issues.

And the boss confirmed that two of those will definitely miss the game against Brighton on Saturday, but Richarlison will face a late fitness test over his involvement.

Ancelotti also confirmed that Andre Gomes will be out of tomorrow's game with a minor issue, but both he and Allan will be fit again after the international break.

The manager told his pre-match press conference: "So the list of injuries is quite big today.

"We don't have, as usual, Branthwaite or Holgate for tomorrow. Jonjoe Kenny is out, Allan is out, Andre Gomes is out.

"Richarlison, is better. We are going to have a test tomorrow morning to see if he's available to play or not.

"For Allan, there is an international break, after that he will be ready 100%. Not for Jonjoe, he is out for at least four weeks, so two weeks after the international break.

"Gomes I think he will be ready...if we didn't play tomorrow, if we played Sunday or Monday, he would be ready. It's a really little thing, but he's not available to play tomorrow.

"The players don't have big injuries apart from Jonjoe, who had a twist on his ankle which was quite serious."

Brighton come into this weekend's game having suffered back-to-back home defeats to Manchester United in the league and the Carabao Cup.

However, Ancelotti believes the side with the best defence will come out on top this weekend.

"I saw the game against United and I have to say that they played a fantastic game, they are playing fantastic football," he added.

"Their idea of football is really clear and exciting because they like to attack. I think we would like to attack tomorrow, it will be an open game.

"I think the side that defends better will win, not who attacks better. I think that both teams in this moment have a good attacking style. I think whoever defends better is going to win."

Everton have been in fantastic form to start the season, winning all six of their matches in all competitions up until this point.

However, Ancelotti knows this good feeling will not last forever, and has warned his players over what a lack of focus could potentially lead to this weekend.

He said: "Well I said there was a lot of reasons. First I think the new signings improved the squad, and I think the players are more motivated and have more ambition. We've started well, the atmosphere is good.

"But I know that it's going to finish, this is a beautiful bubble where we are living now, everything is ok and perfect.

"It's going to finish, sooner or later, and the strength of the squad is when the danger is coming, we have to be ready.

"Maybe it comes tomorrow, I don't know. The opposing team is very strong tomorrow and if we are not focused there the danger will come for sure."
