Richarlison admits he struggled to adapt to Premier League - but why things are different at Everton

Everton starlet Richarlison has admitted he initially struggled to adapt to life in England when he moved to the Premier League in 2017.

The Brazil international made the move to Goodison Park following an eye-catching debut season at Watford.

But despite catching the eye at Vicarage Road, the 22-year-old's form dropped off in the winter months as he found the cultural difference in food as well as the colder climate particularly difficult in the capital.

Speaking to France Football he admitted: "The first year in England was really complicated.

"I couldn't adapt to the temperature. On the pitch, my legs were shaking, my ears were burning."

British food was also causing the former Fluminense player some upset.

"My culinary culture is so different from English cuisine that I really can't get used to what we eat here," he said.

"When I arrived at Watford, I lost about five pounds because I didn't like local food."

Though Richarlison did go on to reveal a positive side to life in England, especially in Merseyside after cementing his place as a Blues fan favourite.

"There is a lot of friendliness and people are educated," he explained. "And then the girls are very pretty!"

The attacker is currently on Copa America duty with Brazil.

Tite's squad will battle it out with Paraguay this Friday for a place in the semi-finals.
