Tail-ender Jhye Richardson has overcome a painful back spasm to give Western Australia hope of pulling off an unlikely victory in their Sheffield Shield clash with Tasmania at the WACA.
WA lost 5-26 early on the final day to be in all sorts of trouble at 7-155 and with a lead of just 141.
But Richardson (50 no off 57 balls) and Joel Paris (27 off 69 balls) came to the rescue with an invaluable 72-run stand to propel WA back into the contest.
The Warriors went to lunch on the final day at 8-230, an overall lead of 216, with Richardson and Matthew Kelly (one) at the crease.
Richardson's fourth half-century of his first-class career featured eight boundaries.
The 25-year-old was forced to sit out days two and three after suffering a back spasm while warming up on Monday.
But he didn't show any signs of soreness during his blistering knock on Wednesday, and he's set to play a key role with the ball once WA's innings is over.
Tigers paceman Riley Meredith (3-45) was the chief destroyer on Wednesday, snaring the wickets of Shaun Marsh (58), Hilton Cartwright (0), and Josh Philippe (two).
Veteran paceman Peter Siddle (3-40) has also been crucial for the Tigers.
